Welcome To Wherever You Are is the band's eighth album and was released in It boasts the singles Heaven Sent, Taste It, Baby Don't Cry and Beautiful Girl. Of course - it was a time grunge and alternative breaking into the mainstream, INXS tried to establish a new direction for itself, la U2 and Achtung Baby incorporating sitars, a 60 /5(93).

Welcome to Wherever You Are is a significant departure from INXS' trademark brand of 80's rock/pop, or at least it tries to be. The album's first three tracks will undoubtedly surprise those who were expecting another Kick or even another X, with the band trying out a guitar-heavy alt rock style that sounds closer to contemporary U2 (Achtung Baby) than it does to any of the band's previous work.

Jan 28,  · For me, Welcome To Wherever You Are is a decent offering. I felt like most of the songs were pedestrian and largely forgettable - with the exception of "Not Enough Time" and perhaps "Heaven Sent". But granted, this is in the context of INXS. Had this album been by another band, perhaps my opinion of it would be higher.

Aug 04,  · "Welcome To Wherever You Are" was released right smack in the middle of grunge, not to mention all the hype surrounding U2's "Achtung Baby" at the time. Many bands who were popular in the 's were having a difficult time finding their footing during this time, as a certain sound was on its way out and a new sound was being ushered in/5(90).
